Welcome to Woodrow Wilson Elementary School!

The staff here at Woodrow is dedicated to giving our students the best educational experience possible. It's with a team effort, where all stakeholders - staff, parents, and community work collaboratively to bring the best out of our young students.

Academic Achievement
Through a rigorous standards based curriculum - use of effective research based instructional strategies, common planning time, and data analysis, we are able to ensure our students will be successful academically.

Character Development
Our Social Emotional Learning program teaches our students to respect each other. Building character is our focus and we emphasize this with programs like Untagged Gents, Ladies of Vision, Leadership programs, and access to middle school athletic teams.

Parents and Community Partnership
We owe any and all success to the contribution of the community network, which is our foundation here at Woodrow. We look forward to seeing you at both our Winter and Spring concerts, both of which draw huge crowds and bring joy to generations.

Respectfully,

William Jerry Smith

William Jerry Smith, Principal

Introduction:

I am honored to have been appointed as the new Principal of Woodrow Wilson Elementary School. I would like to take a moment of your time to introduce myself and share with you my goals for the upcoming school year. I began my education journey almost 16 years ago as the Grades 6 - 8 Mathematics teacher in this same school. I didn’t even have a designated classroom back then as I was affectionately known as “Math on Wheels”. Over the past 16 years I have had the pleasure of experiencing a number of positions within the New Brunswick School System ranging from Math Specialist to Vice Principal and now Principal.

As our students begin this school year, my goals are to ensure that:

  • Your children feel safe and happy at school.

  • There is a productive learning environment in each classroom.

  • Our students work to their maximum potential.

  • Our children develop social skills that allow them to interact with others in a positive manner.

  • Parents, staff, and students work in a partnership with mutual respect.

In closing, I look forward to working with each of you in support of your child, and I have no doubt in my mind that we will have a successful academic year.

William Jerry Smith

Principal, Woodrow Wilson
